Spring is here and summer is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to change up my beauty routine a bit. During these warmer months, I tend to wear a lot less makeup – the Midwest is just too harsh! I also focus on keeping my skin and hair healthy; UV rays and humidity can really do a number on me.
But of course, I’m not keen on breaking the bank for my spring/summer beauty routine. All of the products I use are under $15, and they each last for several months. That’s a pretty good deal in the long run. I choose 10 of my favorite items to share with you. This entire list only cost about $90 total, so see what items you want to add to your warm weather beauty stash!
Top Skincare Picks
Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser
I use this glycolic acid cleanser a few times a week, but I like to use Burt’s Bees on a daily basis. Balancing it out with Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser gives my face the hydration and radiance it needs. It’s great at removing my everyday makeup along with all traces of dirt and oil. It contains daisy extract to brighten skin, olive fruit oil to nourish it, and several refreshing fruit extracts. This awesome natural cleanser produces noticeable results, and it’s pretty competitively priced at under $10.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater
Before I bought this Mario Badescu facial spray, I’d heard so many good things about it. Many makeup lovers use it as a makeup setting spray. Others simply use it as part of their skincare routine to calm and refresh their skin, and that’s precisely what I do. As a gal with oily skin, moisturizer is something I stick to using once a day. This soothing spray quenches my skin without leaving any sort of residue. When I’m not wearing makeup, I use it a few times per day just to refresh my skin. It also has a very light, natural scent, so it makes a great body spray. The surprising part? This spray comes from a luxury beauty brand, but a full-sized bottle will only cost about $7!
Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen
Sunscreen is an obvious must-have if you’re spending time in the sun. But if you really want to pamper your skin, I suggest getting this Aveeno option. It’s designed for sensitive skin, so it’s highly effective but ultra gentle. Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, I recommend using this over some harsher options. It offers 50 SPF protection and really gets the job done. I’m prone to burning easily, and I’ve had nothing but good experience with this. It doesn’t irritate my skin and it’s fragrance-free, which I absolutely love. It’s made from totally natural ingredients like soothing oat extract. Natural sunscreens can be a little bit pricey, but this pick is a budget-friendly option. You can order a three-ounce bottle for about $10.
Top Hair Care Picks
Wella Luxeoil Keratin Boost Leave In Conditioning Spray
As you may have noticed in previous haircare posts, I’m a huge fan of Wella products. I’d never tried their styling products until I bought Luxeoil Leave in Conditioning Spray on sale. This ultra nourishing product is made from argan, jojoba and almond oils along with keratin. It instantly makes my hair feel softer, but it also makes it stronger and sleeker over time. It has a very light, natural scent that I love. It’s now my go-to whenever my hair needs some added protection, and that’s definitely a priority in the summer. I’ve had the same bottle for over four months now and it’s still going strong. That’s a darn good deal for just under $12.
L’Oreal Paris Hair Expert Color Vibrancy Intensive Ultra Recovery Mask
Dyeing my hair regularly means that I need to take extra good care of it. Hair dye can fade easily, and this is especially true when you spend time in the sun. That’s why I use this drugstore deep conditioning mask to keep my color vibrant and rich. In addition to preserving color vibrancy, this mask helps reduce the signs of damage caused by chemical dyes. I typically use it only once or twice a week for five minutes or less. The results are noticeable in the look and feel of my hair. If you have colored hair, don’t hesitate to add this guilt-free item to your shopping list. On Amazon, you can snag it for just about $6.
TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo
I adore dry shampoo all year round, but it’s a lifesaver in the summer. When I’m on the go and the weather is humid, my hair doesn’t always look flattering. There are a lot of great drugstore dry shampoo options, but TRESemme Fresh Start is one of my current favorites. It has a light, clean citrus scent to it that I love. It also adds a bit of volume to my hair while soaking up oil, so it offers numerous benefits. The oil-absorbing ingredients include mineral clay and cornstarch, and it also contains grapefruit and tangerine extracts for that noteworthy scent. A small spritz of this dry shampoo goes a long way, so it’s surprisingly cost-effective for around $13.

SkinFix Lip Repair Balm
I’m a huge fan of lipstick, but I tend to wear it less in the summer. I like using a clear lip balm that’s hydrating; it’s perfect for warmer months and it’s a breeze to re-apply. I started using SkinFix Lip Repair Balm this winter, and I instantly knew it’d be a summer staple, too. It’s an ultra-soothing product made from 40% coconut oil, and free of dyes, added flavor, and parabens. Despite being super hydrating, it feels really light on my lips. I’ve topped it with other lip products like NYX Butter Lip Gloss, and the combo worked really well together. In addition to what I’ve said, I suggest reading the Amazon reviews of this lip repair balm – people absolutely love it! It’s a great buy, lasts for ages, and it costs just about $12.
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
If you have oily skin, you know that it can get so much worse when it’s warm outside. I use Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder religiously and absolutely love it. I’ve tried more expensive options, but this drugstore pressed powder is my holy grail product. It instantly absorbs any excess oil and leaves my skin looking shine-free all day. A lot of pressed powders can make your skin look chalky, but this one is silky smooth. It works well over BB cream and foundation, and it can also be worn alone. The product is unscented, which is a personal bonus to me – fragranced makeup can be a huge irritant or simply unpleasant. You can snag this mattifying pressed powder on Amazon for under $3.50.
Real Techniques Powder Brush
When I use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, I prefer using a fluffy brush for a more natural look. I’ve used a few over the years, but the Real Techniques Powder Brush is a new favorite of mine. The brush has hand cut bristles that allow me to create a totally streak-free, even look. They hold powder well without creating a mess, and the light-colored bristle tips make it easy to how much product I have. It’s also great to use with mineral powder foundation, bronzer, highlighter, and pretty much any other powder product on the market. Like all Real Techniques brushes, this one is super budget-friendly. It’s just about $8.
NYX Cosmetics BB Cream
BB cream is another product that I consider a summer must-have. I like lightweight coverage in the spring and summer and can’t stand the feeling of heavy, runny foundation. That’s why NYX BB Cream is a dream product for me. The formula is oil-free and it has a soft, natural finish to it. It’s very lightweight like a gentle moisturizer versus a true foundation. Despite being so light, it gives just the right amount of coverage. It’s sheer, but it hides flaws and blemishes incredibly well. You can use this BB cream with or without primer, but I like to pair it with NYX Cosmetics Pore Filler. If you’re looking for a summer-friendly BB cream that won’t break the bank, snag this highly-rated option for around $9.
